Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

December 22, 2016

In celebration of Christmas, we have planned three services for Christmas Eve at 4:307:00 and 9:30. The 4:30 Christmas Pageant is designed especially for families with young children. The 7:00 service features the Senior Choir and Christmas Brass. At the 9:30 service we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion and enjoy special music provided by several members of the Senior Choir. All three services include candle lighting and a selection of our traditional Christmas hymns.

We have also planned one service at 10:00 on Christmas Day morning. The service will include an opportunity to sing your favorite Christmas hymns.

Please invite your neighbors and friends to come and join us.

Merry Christmas!

There is a lot happening this coming Sunday, November 20:

We celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday in the life of the church. Please consider bringing an offering of food for the Port Food Pantry.

Our annual Fall Congregational Meeting will be held immediately following the 10:00 service.

Our first ever Turkey Bowl Football Game, for children and adults alike, is at 2:00 at Kolbach Park.

Don't forget that our 31st Annual Christmas Tree Sale begins next Friday. We need everyone to help sell trees. Click here to register online.

November 9, 2016

This coming Sunday morning, November 13, we listen to a wonderful reading from the Book of Isaiah in which God speaks about creating a new heavens and a new earth where all people live to together in peace. It’s an ancient vision that still comforts and challenges us today. We receive New Members into our church and the Senior Choir joins us at the 10:00 service.

We have been enjoying such beautiful weather, it’s hard to believe that next Sunday, November 20, is Thanksgiving Sunday in the life of our church. On Sunday afternoon, at 2:00, children and adults alike are invited to gather for our first Turkey Bowl Football Game at Kolbach Park. What could be more fun than football in the park on Thanksgiving Sunday afternoon?

As always, I hope to see you!

November 2, 2016

October 5, 2016

This coming Sunday morning, October 9, the Senior Choir joins us at the 10:00 service but otherwise it promises to be a quiet Sunday in the life of our church.

Some of you may recall that last winter a member of our church named Jeanne Mantsch went on a mission trip to Haiti sponsored by the Southeast Association of the UCC. Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake in 2010 and this past Tuesday morning Hurricane Matthew swept across the island destroying many of the buildings that had just been rebuilt. Jeanne has offered to be available during our 11:00 Fellowship Hour to talk about her trip and the current situation in Haiti. If you are able, please plan to join her.

Looking ahead to next week, we have planned a Middle School Fall Adventure to Skateland in Grafton for Tuesday, October 11, from 11:30 – 3:30. The kids have a half-day of school, so the plan is to meet at church for a pizza lunch and then head to Skateland. The church will provide lunch and a bus. The cost for roller skating with skate rental is only $6 but you must register in advance by contacting the church office. Kids are welcome to bring a friend, so please help spread the word.

September 28, 2016

This coming Sunday, October 2, is known as World Communion Sunday in the life of the church. We celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion at both services along with Christian communities throughout the world. Pru Palecek will provide our special music.

We celebrate our first Family Service of the year this coming Sunday, September 25, at 10:00. As part of the service, our Carol and Chapel Choirs will sing and we will dedicate our 2017 Confirmation Class. Don't forget that our Church School children are with us for the entire service. Nursery care is always provided for children under four.

In other news, please help spread the word that tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 24, from 10:00 - Noon, United Way of Northern Ozaukee is hosting a Stone Soup Event in our Fellowship Hall. They will be preparing soup for Family Sharing in Grafton. What a wonderful way for you and your children to help those in need!

Let me also remind you that we are hosting a Choir Open House this coming Monday evening, September 26. This is a chance for you and your children to experience what our choir program is all about with no obligation to join. Just come and give it a try!

September 14, 2016

One of the best things about September is that our church community comes back together again. We see people that we haven’t seen all summer long.

As most of you know, our church program year is now underway. We celebrate with two services on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:00.

Our Church School got off to a great start last weekend with lots of new energy and enthusiasm, and all of our choirs began rehearsing on Monday evening. Don’t forget that your children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors, are always welcome to join these wonderful programs.

Last of all, you might be interested to know that our Confirmation Class families will be providing nursery care this year as a gift to our families with young children.

I hope to see you in the weeks to come!

September 7, 2016

This coming Sunday, September 11, marks the start of a new program year in the life of our church. We move to two services on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:00 and we begin our Church School and Nursery.

You might be interested to know that our Church School will be the same yet different in year to come. We will continue to focus on one story or theme each month, with a Storytelling Sunday, Mission and Craft Sundays, and a Family Service Sunday. What’s new this year is that our program is being planned and organized by a Church School Leadership Team and we will be using the United Church of Christ curriculum called Shine as a resource.

I hope to see you on Sunday morning!

August 31, 2016

It’s the beginning of September and suddenly, as if on cue, it feels like fall. The sun is still warm, but the air is fresh and clean and cool. The hot and humid days of early August seem like a long time ago.

If you are in town this Labor Day Weekend, please come and join me. We celebrate our last summer service at 9:00 with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Kai-i Tien will provide our Special Music.

Let me remind you that our church program year begins the following Sunday, September 11. We move to two services on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:00 and we begin Church School and Nursery.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday or certainly in the weeks to come!

Our summer services are always simple and quiet. Whenever you are able, please come and join me.

In other news, our church is one of many churches in Ozaukee County that supports an organization called Family Promise, which provides temporary housing to families who find themselves homeless. We need several volunteers for the week of July 24-30 to provide meals and overnight supervision. If you are able to help, or would like more information, please contact Jeanne Mantsch at (414) 438-3653 or jgm@wi.rr.com.
